Rotarians Pitch in to Support the Salvation Army’s 2016 Red Kettle Campaign.

MOLINE – Moline Rotarians traditionally volunteer to "ring the bell of giving" during The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign.

On Saturday December 10th some twenty Moline Rotarians and a dozen family and friends braved the cold weather, and then snowfall, to volunteer for one hour shifts manning the Red Kettles at the HyVee Food Store and at Walgreens, at 41st Street – Avenue of the Cities. Both stores were very busy with holiday and pre-snow storm shoppers and the donations, including those of Rotarians, poured into the kettles.

The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign is a community-wide effort, and the organization’s most important fund raiser of the year.  The Salvation Army depends on the six week Red Kettle Campaign to raise 60% of its annual budget. The Salvation Army of the Quad Cities set the Red Kettle Campaign goal for 2016 at a challenging $815,000. 100 percent of the money raised during the Red Kettle Campaign is used to fund many important programs in both Scott and Rock Island counties.

Thanks to Moline Rotary Club Red Kettle chairperson Don Shutter, and Rotary volunteers Galen Starkweather & Gail, Jim Flick, Mike Drymiller & Mary, Tim McGovern, John Norton, Jim Gale, Glen Medus & Kathleen, Anne Neumann and children, Vicky Miller and her daughter, Andy Iverson, Adam Meuser and children, Jodie Corey-Behrens, Kelly Giovanine, Jody Smith, Mary & George Oelschlaeger, Mike & Cindy Crotty, John Thompson, Geoff Manis, Gary Francque, and countless donors.
