On Sunday, August 23rd, 2026, the Salida Sunrise Rotary will host the Lucky Ducky Race and Community Celebration at Riverside Park. This is one of our three major fundraisers for Salida Sunrise Rotary. The other fundraisers are the Home and Outdoor Expo plus Holiday Park. Proceeds will go towards scholarships and grants to non-profit organizations.
Businesses, organizations, and individuals are invited to sponsor a duck. There are three sponsorship levels:
Race 1 at 1:30 - Silver Sponsors: $125 per duck
Maximum of 60 big ducks will be assigned to sponsors. Heats of 10 ducks will be run, with the top 3 ducks of each heat racing to determine the final winners.
Race 2 at 2:30 - Gold Sponsors: $250 per duck
Maximum of 40 big ducks will be sponsored in this race. Ducks will be decorated by community youth and randomly assigned to sponsors. Heats of 10 ducks will be run, with the top 3 ducks of each heat racing to determine the final winners.
Race 3 at 3:00 - Platinum Sponsors: $500 per duck
No maximum number of big ducks. The sponsors will be able to personally decorate their ducks. They can then keep and display their ducks at their places of business to show their support for the community. Heats of 10 ducks will be run, with the top 3 ducks of each heat racing to determine the final winners.
The sponsors of the top 3 ducks in each category will each have a scholarship granted in their choice of name during the next school year:
Platinum top 3: $2,000
Gold top 3: $1,500
Silver top 3: $1,000
In addition, there are other benefits to the sponsors:
- All sponsors (Silver, Gold and Platinum) will be shown on the Salida Sunrise Rotary website (www.salidasunriserotary.org).
- Platinum sponsors will have their logos or names featured on the Lucky Duck Race poster.
- Advertisements in The Mountain Mail may include the logos or names of the Platinum and Gold sponsors.
- All sponsors will be recognized on Facebook.
- There will be voting for the “Best Decorated Duck” for the Platinum Sponsors.
- Platinum sponsors will have a 14" x 17" sign set up in Riverside Park during the event.
