Announcements

This week, our regular meeting was packed with wonderful presentations; so, we're bringing your weekly Announcements in a form we hope you'll enjoy.  Please take the opportunity to read each item carefully!

Mazatlan Clean Water Project:

District 5470 has awarded Salida Sunrise Rotary $10,000 in matching funds for Julie Mordecai's Mazatlan Clean Water Project.  Our Charitable Fund has committed $2,500 for this project, Julie Mordecai will donate at least $5,000 and another donor has committed $1,000.  It would be great to count on another $1,500 in donations from our membership. Please let President David Krieves (dkrieves@gmail.com) know if you'd like to help with a donation.

Polio Plus Fund:

What if every Rotarian in District 5470 gave just $20 to support World Polio Day?

We have an opportunity to make a big impact through one simple districtwide challenge:

Every Rotarian. Every Club. Just $20.

With the Gates Foundation's 2-to-1 match, every $20 gift to PolioPlus can become $60 toward ending polio. It's a small gift with the potential for extraordinary impact when we all come together. Someday, when polio is finally eradicated, wouldn't it be wonderful for every one of us to say, “I was part of it.”

If you would like to donate, please either send a check to: Salida Sunrise Rotary Charitable Fund, PO Box 1044, Salida, CO 81201; or go to:  https://my.rotary.org/en/polioplus-fund.  (Once you go to this site, you will need to log into Rotary.org using your Login and Password.  Please contact Janet Franz if you need assistance with this process.)

Holiday Park Update!

The trees will be brought over to the park this Friday, October 30th with the help of Scout Troop 60.  We have several who have signed up to help (if you've signed up, you'll be getting a reminder email and text), but if you would like to join in the fun, there's always room for your support!  We will be meeting behind the 222 F Street building to pick up the trees, and delivered to the park at which time the trees will then be placed on the T-posts.

On Saturday (and maybe Sunday if needed), we'll be fluffing the trees since they've been in storage for 9 months and we're sure they'll need some sprucing up.  You don't need to call, just come on over to the park!

At this point, we have over half the trees adopted, but once the trees are placed in the park, they will go fast, so if you want one, just go to this link: https://portal.clubrunner.ca/8364/SitePage/holiday-park-2026
