Dr. Carrie Besnette Hauser is the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Trust for Public Land. Hauser has a wealth of experience in public policy, philanthropy, higher education, the outdoor industry, and community engagement.  

Prior to her position as CEO with TPL, Hauser served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Colorado Mountain College, a uniquely financed, public, undergraduate institution with eleven campuses spread across Colorado’s central Rocky Mountains. CMC trains students in fields aligned with the outdoor and tourism-focused economies of its region. Under her leadership, CMC was named a Hispanic Serving Institution, invested over $100M in campus facilities and affordable housing, and increased graduation rates to historic levels among nearly every student group while closing equity gaps. For her historic tenure and accomplishments, Hauser will concluded her service with CMC on August 16, 2024 as the first President Emerita in the college’s history.
