Salida Sunrise Rotary Club Charitable Fund Board

In November 2014, the Salida Sunrise Rotary Club established the Salida Sunrise Rotary Charitable Fund, Inc.  The mission of the Charitable Fund is to support the efforts of Salida Sunrise Rotary Club in the fulfillment of projects that support its focus on service to local youth, the environment and community and international projects.  Simply put, the Salida Sunrise Rotary Charitable Fund is the charitable funding vehicle for much of the work of the Salida Sunrise Rotary Club.

This 501(c)(3) public charity organization can accept tax-deductible contributions and has non-profit standard mail authorization with the USPS.

Currently the Salida Sunrise Rotary Charitable Fund’s major fundraising project is the Chaffee Home and Garden Show held in April each year.  Future fundraising ideas are also being explored.

Twice a year, in the spring and in the fall, donation applications are accepted from the community, and monies from fundraising activities are used to support requests that meet eligibility criteria within one of the following categories:
  • youth, education and vocational projects
  • community service programs
  • environmental programs
  • international projects
Each year a percentage of newly available funds are allocated to each of the categories above.

In addition, funds are also provided to our Salida Sunrise Rotary Scholarship Program that awards scholarships to eligible high school seniors and college students in our community that are pursuing post-secondary education.

The Charitable Fund also serves as the sponsor for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Program in Salida School District R-32-J.  This outstanding program supports all children residing in the Salida School District from birth to their 5th birthday.  During this time, each registered child receives an age-appropriate book mailed directly to his or her home every month.  Donations and grants are applied directly to the costs of these books and mailings.

The current members of the Charitable Fund Board are:
