The Rotary Club of Gateway - North Thurston County conducted their organizing meeting on August 10, 2011 at the Hawks Prairie Restaurant in Lacey, Washington with 23 prospective members in attendance. Meetings are every Wednesday morning at 7:00 am. After the club adopted the recommended Rotary International constitution and bylaws, a slate of officers were elected. Board members are:  President Tom Carroll; Vice President Mike Beehler; Secretary Mike Robbins; Treasurer Jerry Wilkins, and Director Kelli Hegsted. District Governor David Stocks granted the new club provisional status on August 12th.
 
President Tom Carroll is enthusiastic about the community’s interest in a new Rotary morning club. At the August 10 meeting, Carroll described the concept of the Rotary Club of Gateway - North Thurston County, explaining that the club will be a gateway for younger business professionals to become Rotarians; a gateway for younger Rotarians to assume club leadership; a gateway for minorities to join Rotary and diversify membership; a gateway for Thurston County youth to have a better life; and a gateway for businesses within the Gateway Development Area to participate in Rotary.
