"Life is like a Pachinko machine!”

01.03.2018 - Karen Change Barr

Pearls of wisdom relayed to us at this past Wednesday’s Gateway Rotary Club meeting by our one and only, Graeme Sackrison.
This was his summation about his life journey to now, which started in Columbus, Ohio, to Lacey, Washington and, from a student at North Thurston High School to school board member of the North Thurston School District.

His life experiences ranged from four years in the Air Force, to over twenty-seven years of public service at the Washington State Department of Employment Security. However, the excitement picked up steam when complained to a former Lacey Council Member about something he disagreed and that Council Member brought him an application to become a member on the Lacey Planning Committee.

Soon he became a Lacey Council Member himself and thirteen years later he served as Council Member, then Mayor. At the end of his last term, he got involved in the Lacey Chamber and Lacey Loves to Read projects (among other things) when he was encouraged to run for an upcoming vacancy on the North Thurston School Board. He is currently serving his third year on the School Board and is the current president.

We’re so glad you allowed the “pachinko ball” of life to lead you to help make our Lacey community a better place, Graeme!
Thank you for your service.
