A sunny warm day for todays meeting of 13 members and 2 guests. Pres Dennis opened with recognition for our Isadora in her school musical review on the weekend - 7 members attended and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Isa was off to District Conference following the meeting, chauffeured by Judy and Myers. Out of committee reports that followed,  came the request for anyone who might know of an appropriate security person for both the Cactus Jalopy and Lobster Festival events to allow us to comply with liquor licences - let Dennis know. Also recognition for Lynda and Vaughn for their volunteer efforts in support of the GSE Team in town last week. Ron reported out on progress for the June installation dinner which sounds in good hands expecting 60 members and guests so far. If you haven't done so yet, please let him know if you are attending.
Pres Dennis also requested that from the clubrunner home page, each member click on the 'Like' Facebook icon at the top of the page...it is easy! Also, if anyone is interested in participating in the Relay for Life on June 22, please let Vaughn know and he will organize the Rotary team.
Stacy Little, Program Manager of Better at Home, was introduced as our guest speaker. Better at Home was the former CASI (Community Action for Seniors Independence) organization and continues to operate the same strong support and referral service for seniors with different management and funding but still operating out of the Seniors Center. Management in now through United Way and they have contracted Desert Sun Counselling to manage the program for Osoyoos, Oliver and Okanagan Falls communities. The BC Government has provided funding for the next 5 years. There are now 186 clients taking advantage of the services that include the very visible (and Rotary supported!) transportation van and various small home repairs and house maintenance that allows seniors to stay in their homes. Thanks Stacy!
This was Ryan's first meeting back from his winter sojourn in Alberta and he gave us a full update on his plans and 'life' events...welcome back Ryan!
Somehow Dennis won the 50/50...an almost popular win!
