“Why would I donate to The Rotary Foundation” is a question that most recently inducted members into Rotary International ask themselves.

Through educational opportunities , by communicating with knowledgeable Rotarians, or by research, many recently inducted members learn about why The Rotary Foundation is a very unique foundation that meets a high standard of ethics, maintains a low cost for administration and creates a high impact in providing humanitarian service that is sustainable.

An excerpt from one of the club’s recently inducted illustrates this:

“I have been looking for years to find an organization that I felt confident in donating to that had no overhead administrative costs and had good ethics when it came to investing money into small communities.  When I found out about the Rotary Foundation,  I was super pleased to find that this was a great way to donate money;  and so I have been doing this the last couple of years and I plan to do so for many more years to come.” (Colleen McEwan, PHF+2)

During the evening of March 03, 2021, the Foundation Committee for the Rotary Club of Kelowna Sunrise presented a comprehensive argument in response to the question of “Why would I donate to The Rotary Foundation.”  Club Foundation Committee member, Ed Kolybaba, using a video and PowerPoint, detailed  the value of a contribution to the Foundation, how these contributions are enhanced and increased, why Rotarians should place their trust in the Foundation, and why The Rotary Foundation is recognized as the best charity in the world.

The presentation featured six members of the club, including Meme Nyi, Robin Durrant, Colleen McEwan, Randall Bamford, Scott Rattee, and Aleasa Tasker who shared why they have contributed substantially to the Foundation and why they will make contributions to the Foundation a priority in the future.

The presentation concluded with a review of the ways that the club and the Foundation recognizes the club Rotarians who have achieved escalating contributions to the Foundation.
