Kelowna Sunrise Rotarians have always believed in giving back and helping out in the community and beyond.  For many years now, during the months of November and December club members have volunteered as bell ringers standing at the Christmas kettles of the Salvation Army, collecting donations by good Samaritans passing by, who too believe in giving back. Truly, there is no greater measure of a life well-lived than helping the less fortunate wherever they may live.

With COVID-19 having such a dire affect on so many in the community, more and more families are struggling to make day to day ends meet.  In a statement made to Castanet Kelowna by Kelowna Salvation Army executive director Darryl Burry, he states that “The impacts of COVID-19 have been far-reaching and we have seen a 61% increase in the number of individuals and families reaching out for support. As Christmas approaches, we believe that those numbers will only continue to climb.”

The Rotary Club of Kelowna Sunrise was pleased that during the month of November over 25 of its members volunteered for one or more two hour shifts ringing the Christmas bells, amounting to 38 hours of volunteering.
