Damp and cool weather did not stop over 800 hungry swimmers and observers from indulging in pancakes and coffee served during the club’s Pancake Breakfast which was held in conjunction and support of the Annual Across the Lake Swim held on July 21st.  This resulted in the club netting a profit of $2926 which will enable the club to financially support additional community and international needs.

Twenty-three club members, two Rotaract members and a family member volunteered preparing and serving up over 2000 pancakes along with coffee.   With the support of donations from McDonalds, Shoe Bank Canada, the Salvation Army and the Uptown Rutland Business Association, the pancake breakfast proved to be yet another successful Kelowna Sunrise Rotary community event.

Chief organizer Doreen Welsh expressed her appreciation to club members Jery Urquhart and Bruce Brown for their assistance in organizing the event.   She pointed out that “all of our hard working volunteers made this another fun fellowship fundraiser that we all enjoyed participating in!”
