Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Kelowna Sunrise welcomed yet another Rotarian to their fold when Randall Bamford transferred to the club on October 04.  Randall arrives from the Rotary Club of Penticton where he has served as a member since 2016.  Prior to his service with the Penticton club, he retained a membership with the Rotary Club of Williams Lake (2014-2016), the Rotary Club of Salmon Arm (2009-2014) and the Rotary Club of Squamish (2005-2008).  Even though his career required him to move from city to city within British Columbia, he did not set aside the work of Rotary, believing firmly that he recognized the value of connecting with the community and providing service to the community through volunteering with Rotary.

Randall has been a very active member of the Rotary clubs that he has served with.  He has served on many club committees, been a member of the club’s executive, president-elect twice, and the club President of the Salmon Arm Daybreak Club. When he moved from Williams Lake, he was just beginning his club 2016-17 presidency (a grand total of six days) before he was handed a surprise transfer to Penticton.  Prior to transferring to the Kelowna Sunrise club, he served on board of the Penticton Rotary Club as the membership director for thirteen months.
When asked why he chose the Kelowna Sunrise Rotary Club, Randall shared that he had a good feel for the club and being already connected through the RibFest and the partnership it had with Save On Foods, mad the decision easy.

Randall believes “that people should support the community they live in and help others the best that they can, making the world a better place.”  He points out that supporting the Rotary Foundation as a Paul Harris Society member is yet another way that he can give back. “It is important to me and I like to think that the support I provide to the Foundation links me to the BIG Picture of Rotary Worldwide,” notes Randall.  He shares that his support for the Rotary Foundation is a donation that will be used for good use in the world, and that his donation will also help his club through the matching grant process so that it also ends up being a win for the Rotary club as well.  Randall is a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow and a Paul Harris Society for seven years.

Randall is an avid supporter of the work of the District.  He attends district conferences regularly and participates in district training activities, such as the Rotary Leadership Institute.

Randall graduated from Lake City Secondary in Williams Lake in 1983 and then attended Camousen College in Victoria.

His 31 year career, which started with Save On Foods in 1988 while living in Victoria, began as a stock boy.  By 1996, he was well established in management with the grocery retail business.  In 2004, he became fully engaged as a store manager managing grocery stores in Salmon Arm, Williams Lake, and Penticton, before taking on the manager role at the Lakeshore Save On Foods store in Kelowna in July of 2019.
