Seven members of the Rotary Club of Kelowna Sunrise participated in the first Rotary District 5060 “Round Up” on Saturday, May 27th held in Summerland at the Summerland Secondary School, which was followed by BBQ and social at Saxon Winery in Summerland.

Pat McAllister, Jane Fletcher, Heidi Miller, Huck Parfeniuk, Carole Farley, Bob Fortier and Andy Griffin experienced a new way to actively engage in an “Open Space Technology” (OST) workshop, based on a concept which has numerous applications.  OST is an approach to purpose-driven leadership focused on a specific and important purpose or task, always beginning without a formal agenda, beyond the overall purpose or theme.

OST served as a trial, whereby 32 participants from clubs across the district, including 6 as part of the Facilitation team who were also full participants experienced a unique process to determine and prioritize best practices for Rotary clubs and to establish what best practices, techniques and/or actions would help Rotary clubs to enjoy an even more successful 2017-18 Rotary year.

Eight of 16 topics were selected by the participants for two the two scheduled breakout sessions, which included topics on multi-club collaborations, programs and guest speakers, club demographics, social media, fund raising, membership attraction, mentorship and community service.
