Salvation Army Okanagan continues to provide humanitarian serve for  the citizens of the Okanagan, providing spiritual, physical, emotional and environmental care for individuals, families and the community.  These needs are met through the Salvation Army’s community assistance care where its centre serves as a safe haven, “a place where people can find hope,” providing practical and supportive assistance, through its emergency services, often working alongside emergency first responders and other agencies,  through programs designed to help people gain more effective life skills, through classes focused on developing community skills, and by annually giving  families a blessing of hope during the Christmas season.

Each year, the Rotary Club of Kelowna Sunrise in recognition, appreciation and support of the goals of the Salvation Army, makes a substantial donation to Salvation Army Okanagan.  On November 16th, the Salvation Army was presented with a cheque for $1000 to assist it in meeting its goals, particularly throughout the Christmas season.  The presentation was made during the Opening of the 2017 Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign held at the Salvation Army Community Life Centre in Rutland on November 16th.

Individual members of the club also donate financially by cash deposits in the Christmas Kettles and by personal cash donations through cheque or credit card.  In addition, many of the club Rotarians make a point of annually ringing the Kettle bells  at various sites throughout the Central Okanagan throughout the Christmas Kettle Campaign.
