Club members from the Rotary Club of Kelowna Sunrise enjoyed another outstanding District 5060 Conference in Kelowna from April 27 – 30, either as attendees/delegates or as volunteers.  Approximately 40 club members served as volunteers and/or participated at various venues, including the social evening (welcome dinner) at the Laurel Packing House, home hosting, registration desk duties, tour participants, active hosts at the various club/organization display tables, presenters at the break-out sessions, and as fully paid conference attendees.

Club and district attendees at the conference particularly enjoyed the dynamic and inspirational presentations from a number of keynote speakers.  Janice Taylor, the CEO and founder of Mazu, a youth engagement and content company with a mission focused at creating digital products for children that enable positive active both on and offline, shared her mission to help bring change to the world by encouraging positive social behaviour that reaches beyond barriers of race, religion, color or culture through the practice of simple values.  Amanda Wirtz, a Chicago native, former RYE student, a past Cryptologic Analyst for Naval Intelligence in the US, and currently an active advocate for building hope and a future within the community and abroad through outreach humanitarian projects shared her personal story of hope as a means to inspire others to “Ask the Right Question.”  Dr. Bob Scott, a medical practitioner and coroner; Nabil Oudeh, the president and founder of the Centre for Conflict Resolution International Ltd. and Dean Rohrs, a District 5050 leader and champion, offered additional words of wisdom and profound stories that maintained the focus of the conference attendees.
