The Kelowna Sunrise Rotary club members welcomed Alexandra Kosachukova Babbel as a member to the club following her induction to the club by Membership Committee Chair Brian Wrightson on July 05th.  Club member Wayne Evans, Alexandra’s sponsor, also participated in the induction ceremony.
Alexandra is the artistic director and founder of Opera Kelowna, a registered, not-profit society and member of the Canadian Association of Professional Opera Companies.  Working closely with the society’s board of directors, she successfully nurtured the organization into a solid strategic company in 2013.
Alexandra held the faculty position of Voice Department Head at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois before relocating to Kelowna. She has also shared her expertise and gift of music as a lyric Soprano in operatic and concert solo performances in Canada, Germany, England, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy, Ukraine and Russia throughout her music career.
Her achievement of a Bachelor of Arts in Choral Education from the University of Michigan, followed by a Master in Opera Performance from the University of Alberta, concluding with a Post-Masters Certificate of Performance and doctoral studies from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, have impacted greatly on her successful career.
Alexandra has recognized that by becoming a Rotarian she has been provided with many opportunities to broaden her community service and to network with other community minded individuals.
