Our club is one of the larger clubs in District 9790, and currently (at the time of writing) has 56 active members and two honorary members.
It is a diverse club with members drawn from a range of backgrounds, occupations, and professions. It is also gender diverse with almost 25% female members.
The club focuses on several key areas of interest but has always had a strong focus on youth.
For many years we have supported the Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN) and have conducted annual adventure camps for Year 10 students from the Upper Murray Region. We support the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA).
We are involved in Meals on Wheels, Albury Carevan, the Kiewa Street Market (in partnership with Rotary Club of Belvoir Wodonga), the Travel Escape Club Raffle, and this year have run, for the first time, the Albury Wodonga Book Fair.
In the past we have been involved in the setting up of the Albury Manual Activities Centre (the prototype for the Australian Men’s Shed Movement) the building of the Hilltop Carer’s Accommodation at the Albury Base Hospital, and project management for the construction of the South Albury Occasional Care Centre.
Even though we are a busy club we are also committed to enjoying our Rotary experience and actively engage in club fellowship. Many of our members routinely participate in caravanning and camping weekends, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner hosting events, regular cycling events, and Ride to Conference, to name a few.
The club meets at 6:30pm on a Tuesday night at the Thurgoona Country Club. It also makes occasional visits to other clubs in the Albury Wodonga area in a spirit of fellowship.
