Travel Guides

There was no official program for the evening so Past President Brian asked a few members to outline their recent travel experiences or plans.

We were entertained by travel stories from Matt Rhodes, Bruer and Jennifer.  These ranged from a visit to New Zealand to travelling Europe and Around the World.

Thank you to our three well-travelled members.

The Brain Teaser

The Missing Dollar: Three people check into a hotel room that costs $30. They each contribute $10, handing $30 to the hotel clerk. Later, the hotel clerk realizes that there was a mistake, and the room only costs $25. The hotel clerk gives $5 to the bellboy and asks him to return it to the guests. However, the bellboy decides to keep $2 for himself and gives $1 back to each guest. Now, each guest has paid $9 (totalling $27) and the bellboy has kept $2, making $29. What happened to the missing dollar?

Sergeants Session – Alan Brumfield

Alan was very determined to ensure that he left no member untouched. He succeeded with a vengeance.

It was a very good session and he finished with a joke that shall not be repeated in the bulletin, but I suggest you ask Alan if you missed it.

The raffle was won by Bruer (Carol) again!

The answer to the brain teaser is: There is no missing dollar. The guests have paid a total of $27 ($25 to the hotel and $2 to the bellboy).

Travel Stories

1.  I got sacked today for downloading games onto my work computer and causing everything to crash,” I told my friend.
“That’s a bit harsh,” he replied.
“They don’t mess about at air-traffic control,” I said.

2.  My flight was delayed in Houston. Since the gate was needed for another flight, our aircraft was backed away from the terminal, and we were directed to a new gate. We all found the new gate, only to discover a third gate had been designated for our plane. Finally, everyone got on board the right plane, and the flight attendant announced: "We apologize for the gate change. This flight is going to Washington, D.C. If your destination is not Washington, D.C., you should deplane at this time." A moment later a red-faced pilot emerged from the cockpit, carrying his bags. "Sorry," he said, "wrong plane."
