After packing up and moving 15 months ago to Agnes Water, Monique was finally able to come ‘home’ for a visit, to catch up with family, friends and acquaintances and enjoy a few days of supposedly rest and relaxation. However those that know Monique know she doesn’t sit still for very long. Monique provided us with an insight into her life in Agnes Water and her new Rotary family – Discovery Coast Rotary Club. Agnes Water is a coastal town and a locality in the Gladstone Region, Queensland. Agnes Water is Queensland’s northern-most surf beach and is the last in a line of beautiful, unspoilt beaches that sweep up the coast from Bundaberg. Agnes Water and its sister township of Seventeen Seventy (1770) offer a range of activities and holiday ideas - from relaxing at the beach, four wheel driving through rugged coastal national parks, beach and deep sea fishing - to enjoying an adventure tour aboard an amphibious vessel. Agnes Water and Seventeen Seventy are also one of the closest points to the outer Great Barrier Reef, with tours departing to both Lady Musgrave Island or Fitzroy Reef. Agnes Water and 1770 are located along the Queensland Coast, 1.5 hours north of Bundaberg and 1.5 hours south of Gladstone. Both of these cities you can fly to from the state’s capital, Brisbane. Agnes Water and 1770 are usually explored together, but 10 kilometres away from each other. Therefore, it’s easier to have your own transport, or hire before you get there. However, there are 50cc Scooters that can be hired by the hour or day to run around.   At 1770 (Seventeen Seventy), It’s all about the beachfront as properties around the coast offer ever-improving views of the beaches. Like Agnes Water, prices vary with the seasons, so it will depend on when you go. You can choose from traditional accommodation options, or if you are after something different, you may like to check out The Beach Shacks. This unique accommodation is situated in the Town of 1770, just across the road from the sparkling blue waters of the 1770 swimming beach. Furthermore, having a short walk to the Marina, which is the departure point for day cruises. Additionally, a great option for snorkelling and diving are available to explore the southern part of Queensland’s spectacular Great Barrier Reef. ******************************** |
