******************************** Paul Harris Fellow – Geoff Beecher The Club recognized the achievements of one of its own members with the award of a Paul Harris Fellow. During the presentation, Geoff’s contribution to his family, the community and the club were noted. (Shah, Nick, Mary-Anne, Geoff and Laurie after the presentation). Geoff Beecher – Paul Harris Fellowship Citation Geoff grew up in Sandigo where he was always involved in work on the farm. His leadership skills were developed early – he was Captain at Narrandera High School. Geoff went on to the University of New England where he gained a Rural Science Degree. and a Diploma of Financial Management. His working career started at the Water Resources Commission as a soil scientist for 10 years and he later moved to the Department of Agriculture at Yanco as a researcher of irrigated cropping systems. His working career was marked by many achievements and he is rated by all who worked with him as a great researcher who used his background, knowledge, and experience to create important new technologies – such as the use of EM to indicate irrigation soil suitability and development of bed cropping systems. He was also recognised by his peers as a wonderful collaborator, and mentor to so many both at Yanco and overseas. Following his retirement from Yanco he has continued to run the family farm. Geoff has always been a contributor to the community. He was a committed member of pre-school and school P & C Committees – notably as a very important member of the Parkview P & C. Other commitments included the rugby and swimming clubs, community tree plantings and the Sandigo Hall committee. Geoff joined Leeton Rotary Club in March 2011 after both children had been on Youth Exchange. He is a very active and dependable member of the club. He has served in most positions on the Board, including Secretary, Treasurer, Community Service Director, and President in 2016-2017. He and Mary-Anne have hosted 8 exchange students, and he led a Friendship Exchange Visit to Canada and the USA in 2017. Geoff is recognised by all as humble and modest but as one who can be trusted to do any task with dedication and skill. He is a fine example as a person who is committed to family, the farm, and community. It is a pleasure to recognise his achievements through this award of a Paul Harris Fellowship. ******************************** Brain Teaser (An easier one – for Christmas) ******************************** Sergeant Session – None: A Christmas Gift Raffle was won by Carol Weston ******************************** Christmas Time ********************************
