                                                                                     Reports

From Brian

Rotary Club of Leeton is pleased to support an upcoming Mental Health Support Skills Workshop, being held in Leeton on Tuesday 29 September.

We all have people in our lives — family, friends, colleagues or fellow community members — who may experience a difficult time. Often, the hardest part is knowing how to start the conversation and what to say next.

This practical 4-hour workshop will help participants feel more confident to recognise when someone may be struggling, start a supportive conversation, respond appropriately and understand where to direct someone for further help.

Workshop Details

I am tyred

Yesterday I had a flat tyre on the freeway. So, I eased my car over to the shoulder of the road, carefully got out of the car and opened the boot. I took out 2 cardboard men, unfolded them and stood at the rear of my car facing oncoming traffic. They looked so lifelike you wouldn’t believe! They are in trench coats exposing their nude bodies and private parts to the approaching drivers. Cars started slowing down looking at my lifelike men, and of course, traffic started backing up. Everybody was tooting their horns and waving like crazy.

It wasn’t long before a police car pulled up behind me. He got out of his car and started walking towards me. I could tell he was not a happy camper!

“What’s going on here?”

“My car has a flat tyre.”

“Well, what are those obscene cardboard men doing here by the road?”

I couldn’t believe he didn’t know. So, I told him,

“Those are my emergency flashers!”
