Lodge Sensory Garden
On Thursday evening Denise McGrath, Chair and Founder of Leeton Rainbow Pride and Joanne Edwards, Lifestyle Coordinator at Alf Hermann Lodge, presented the club with a project idea which they are planning for a section of the Lodge gardens.

RFBI Leeton Masonic Village offers all levels of residential care, including a memory support unit for those living with dementia.  In the residential care accommodation (Alf Herrmann Lodge) clients and guests are able to relax in one of the many sitting rooms in each wing.

The overarching purpose of Leeton Rainbow Pride Collective Inc, is to provide a voice for LGBTQIA people and their supporters in Leeton and local districts.  They are a NPF Charity, offering support to LGBTQIA+ people.  Their primary goal is to create acceptance and inclusion of the Rainbow community by the broader community by hosting inclusive community events which will demystify who they are.  They are working on improving the lives of our Silver Rainbows in the community and especially those in Aged Care.

The joint project being proposed is to create a sensory garden for the residents to enjoy.  It is planned to make it visually appealing garden with vibrant colours, pleasing scents, garden ornaments and water movement with a water feature or possibly a fish pond.  The purpose of the area will be to stimulate the senses of the residents including those suffering from dementia.  The proposed garden will be outside the gated area, ensuring it is a COVID safe.  With Bunnings agreeing to donate plants and ornaments, assistance may be required with planting and setting up a watering system.  Plans currently being finalised.

The Menu

In continuation of from Diwali week, seafood risotto was on the menu. This was followed by almond (Diwali) cake with Matt’s version of mango sorbet. Riddle Answer: The letter ‘T’

Next week’s menu will be a surprise, including to Chef Matt as he hasn’t decided, (considering options).
