Visit to the Property
A small, intrepid group of Rotarians gathered at Andrew Thompson’s for a visit on Saturday 19th.
Andrew explained that he purchased the property in 1990’s and it was declared a native vegetation reserve. It is not farmed but has many incredible native plants. It is a property of 500 acres and backs on to a crown land area of a further 1000 acres.
The property is totally off-grid but has about 5 years of water storage and some solar power.
We initially gathered in ‘the castle’ that was originally constructed for a reunion of Andrew’s Vietnam Unit. Th e ‘Castle’ was complete with pizza oven (constructed by Arthur Stavrow) and some fantastic tables (courtesy of Paul Sheldrick)
Following a preliminary discussion, a few intrepid ramblers took off for the top of the hill where we met those that had taken the ‘scenic’ route up the mountain in Geoff’s ute.
The ramblers were treated to many native plants and scenic views and were greeted at the top by yet another wonderful view.
The ramblers were then introduced to a waterfall (sans water) and a patch of spider orchids before a late lunch in the ‘Castle’, where we were joined by Andrew and Anna.
This was an amazing experience. Who knew that such a wonderland existed just 15 km from Leeton?

With Yet Another Apology to Blondes
A plane is in flight towards Toronto, when a blonde in 2nd class gets up, moves to the first class section and sits down.
The stewardess looks at her and asks to see her ticket.
She then tells the blonde that she paid for 2nd class and she will have to sit in the back.
The blonde responds: "I'm blonde, I'm beautiful, I'm going to Toronto and I’m staying here."
The hostess goes into the cockpit and tells the pilot and co-pilot that there is a blonde bimbo sitting in first class, who has to sit in 2nd class, but refuses to return.
The co-pilot goes to the blonde and tries to explain that, because she only paid for a 2nd class, she will have to return to her seat.
The blonde responds: "I'm blonde, I'm beautiful, I'm going to Toronto and I’m staying here."
The co-pilot tells the pilot he should probably make the police wait when they land to arrest this stubborn blonde woman.
The pilot says, "You are saying she's blonde? I will handle this, I'm married to a blonde so I speak blonde."
He goes to the blonde and whispers in her ear, and she says, "Oh, I'm sorry.", gets up and returns to her seat in 2nd class.
The stewardess and co-pilot are amazed and ask him what he said to get her moving with ease.
