Back in 2016 Elijah was sponsored by our Club for Rotary Youth Exchange student. He spent an incredible year in Belgium and even learnt French as part of the experience and was voted the ‘Best Exchange student from the Southern Hemisphere. This experience can only be described as life changing and has provided Elijah with a ground footing and opened so many more doors to him. Elijah is a proud Wiradjuri man from Leeton. He is a passionate, inspiring young man with a very bright future ahead of him. One who is willing to take on different changes and push himself outside his comfort zone. Our Club was so fascinated by Elijah and his story question time was also as long as his presentation time.
Elijah has held a few different position and is currently employed by Western Riverina Arts as a Creative Officer. Digital Artist and a NSW Aboriginal Land Council Youth Advisory Committee member who has represented First Nations youth at the United Nations’ twelfth session of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Elijah currently works at the Leeton Museum and Gallery in the role of Peace Project Officer where he engages local youth with upskilling opportunities and creative entertainment programs.
As part of the Creative Officer contract, Elijah is be developing digital arts initiatives and ways to fund, partner and create projects that can lead to long-term employment outcomes and economic sustainability in the digital arts in the Western Riverina. Elijah is working towards planning workshops co-hosted with state, national and international screen organisations and consultants.
Elijah Ingram said of his new role, “I’m very excited to begin my position as Creative Officer with Western Riverina Arts. I’m looking forward to working in the digital art space, working across the region and really networking with other artistic people.”
The role aims to activate and create Digital Art in all its forms and instigate projects and initiatives that support distribution and creation. Content will be created across online spaces, social media platforms, streaming and podcast platforms.
Elijah is a member of the Leeton and District Local Aboriginal Land Council, is studying a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Indigenous Studies at Macquarie University, is a former Commander of an Army Cadet battalion, and is a previous NSWALC YAC representative for the Wiradjuri Region.

Ignite Live Music
Ignite, a live music event for all ages was held in Mountford Park on Saturday, February 11. The free event featured several bands. As always not wanting to miss out on an opportunity to boost the coffers our Rotary Club was in attendance with hamburgers and sausage sandwiches straight off the BBQ.
Apparently there were almost more Rotarians than paying customers at the event.
