President's Night

In the Chair  President Jennifer

Members:       15

President Jennifer began by again thanking Carmel for her stewardship of the last Rotary Year and highlighting many of the club’s achievements during her time.

She then played a video of the Calgary speech of incoming International President Francesco Arezzo.  This was a great speech by a very humble man.  It was difficult to absorb in one go so it can be assessed through google in the following steps:

IC25 Arezzo

President Arezzo began by thanking the President Elect, Past President and the nominated President for 2025/26 who had to stand down.  His talk focused on the 25/26 Theme ‘Unite for Good’

Unite: In space and time.  Unite in space means all members and all supporting organisations to: Expand reach; increase membership, particularly through retention.  Unite in time: Not projects for one year but across years – it is not our year but Rotaries year.

‘For Good’ – membership, eradication of polio and peace (through many avenues.

He emphasized that to dream is important but to dream is not sufficient – we must act on the dreams.

Together we UNITE FOR GOOD.

(Editor’s Note) – this is a poor summary. Please go to the original for a very inspiring talk by a humble man.

President Jennifer then advised the club that the current Secretary and Treasurer do not wish to serve in those positions in the next Rotary year so called for members to consider volunteering now so they can be mentored during this year.

She also expressed a wish for others to volunteer to share the bulletin editing role.

Some of Jennifer’s quotes:

From our Community Leader: ‘Rotary gives the opportunity for ordinary people to do extraordinary things’.

From the Narrandera immediate Past President: ‘Service is the rent we pay for our time on earth’.

Sergeant – Nicholas

Nicholas provided a good session by playing a sequence of his quirky translations on his recent tour of Asia. We could call it ‘Lost in Translation’.

A very entertaining session.  Thanks Nicholas.

Market Day

Market day started nice and fine, but the day deteriorated as we went along.  There weren’t many stalls, and the crowd dribbled through, but we sold lots of bacon and egg rolls and sausage sandwiches because it was a good day for ‘worming’ food.  Thank you to all who helped on the day.

A light bulb moment.

Two factory workers are talking. The woman says, "I can make the boss give me the day off." The man replies, "And how would you do that?" The woman says, "Just wait and see." She then hangs upside down from the ceiling. The boss comes in and says, "What are you doing?" The woman replies, "I'm a light bulb." The boss then says, "You've been working so much that you've gone crazy. I think you need to take the day off." The man starts to follow her and the boss says, "Where are you going?" The man says, "I'm going home, too. I can't work in the dark."

A:  Mark Brown

‘?’ = question mark’  So, the note reads ‘question Mark Brown. He is the murderer.
