Keith Pengilley - My Story
Keith Pengilley, Director of Research Services and past Rotary Youth Exchange Student joined us for dinner this week with his wife Dr Georgina Pengilley.

Keith Pengilley grew up on the Liverpool Plains and has always had a passion for agriculture.  He studied rural science at UNE in Armidale and had planned to be a vet.  It was here he met his wife to be Georgina. His first job out of university was as an agronomist at Wellington before being employed by DPI in weed and herbicide management and weed control in western NSW based at Condobolin.

Graeme’s Something to Smile About

“Research has shown that laughing for two minutes is just as healthy as a 20-minute jog.  Therefore, it’s better to sit in the park laughing at all the joggers.”

Miil Miil Launch

The event was held to celebrate the Wiradjuri Film Showcase by Leeton's Miil Miil Productions last Saturday
11 March 2023at Gossamer Park!  The event premiered Corrobee Frog, Plains Wanderer, The Spirit Within and Scar Trees.  (Answer:  They are both in the middle of water.)  There was plenty of fresh air and sunshine as well as variety of free food, free kids fun and treats, and music by Dookie Thorne.

As with all great events the Rotary Club of Leeton was there cooking the sausages on the BBQ.  These provided extremely popular with some patrons returning 2 or 3 times for a BBQ snag sanger.

Whilst most Club members were kept busy either cooking sausages or serving them, someone (we won’t mention any names, will we Dan) decided it was the perfect opportunity to tidy up the BBQ van and have a cleanup at the same time.

Sergeant’s Session

Sergeant Dan was so disappointed he had all this great ammo for the sergeants’ session, however unfortunately most of the targeted participants were not present on the night.  Oh well Dan if I was you, I would pass it onto next weeks sergeant.  Anyway, since I got fined for not sharing my lunch with Dan (even though he told me he didn’t want any) I took the opportunity to fine him for tidying up the BBQ van and having a cleanup instead of helping his fellow Rotarians cook and serve the sausage sangers at the on the weekend.

Carmel’s Optical Illusion Photo

Film set building facade?
Or just a low angle making this slim building look like a front? If you’re familiar with the Flatiron Building in Manhattan, New York City, then you know how an oddly shaped building (in this case, a weird, triangular one) can appear flat or fake from different angles. These cute apartments in Marseille, France, look like they’re one-room deep, but it’s just the angle!
