Stories
RYE - Hanna Chiyomi Maeda
Past President Laurie introduced our guest speaker – Hanna Chiyomi  Maeda – our incoming Rotary Exchange Student.

Hanna aged 17, is of Japanese and Brazilian parentage.  Her father who is Japanese, is an engineer, but also teaches Maths.  Her mother who is Brazilian, is a Lawyer.   Her beloved grandfather has passed; however she shares soul stories with him, and her Japanese grandmother now lives in Brazil.  Both her grandparents share her life.  She has one sister, Laura, aged 19, who is studying Aerospace Engineering in the USA.  She left behind a beloved cat called Lilly, and her father is loving her to bits.

Prior to coming on exchange, Hanna was studying nursing, but after attending Leeton High School, she hopes to progress to studying medicine in the USA at the same location as her sister.

She has attended the District Conference in Wagga Wagga, and the inbound and outbound Exchange Student Conference in Canberra.  She made many new friends at these events.

During her time in Leeton Hanna will be hosted by the Wade, Thompson and Doig families.

AG Jennifer thanked Hanna for her excellent presentation, and gave presented her with a Rotary banner and mug.  Hanna in turn presented Jennifer with a flag from Brazil and a banner from her host Club.
