Meeting Date and Time:  Thursday, September 26 at 7:30 am at Riverbend Country Club.

Since it was founded more than 100 years ago, the Rotary Foundation has spent more than $4 Billion on life-changing, sustainable projects.  Michael Arietti will provide a brief overview of the Rotary Foundation activities and goals as it strives to advance peace and understanding through education, improvements in health, and the alleviation of poverty. Michael may also throw in a few stories during his tenure as the U.S. Ambassador to Rwanda 2005 to 2008. 

Michael has been a Rotarian since 2006 and is currently a member of the McLean Club.  He is a Past President and currently chair of McLean’s Foundation and International Committees.

He has been Chair of the District’s Paul Harris Society for three years.  He regularly visits Clubs in the District to promote membership in the Society and to recognize new members.  There are currently around 270 Paul Harris Society members in the District.

Michael is a retired Foreign Service Office after working for 35 years in the Department of State.  He has worked at U.S. Embassies around the world, including in Iran, Australia, Sweden, Geneva, and Zambia.  He was the American Ambassador to Rwanda from 2005-2008.
