The Barra de Navidad Special Needs School, located in Jalisco Mexico, is the only school in the region that caters to children with special needs. While the school attempts its own fundraising initiatives, money raised typically goes toward the busing program that picks children up from all the neighboring communities around the school. Little funding is left for special infrastructure projects. As a result, the facilities at the school are limited. With financial support from the Rotary Foundation, Kamloops Daybreak Rotary has stepped up to help the school. Working with local contractors, an outdoor covered common area has been built that will allow the children to play outside and stay protected from the heavy rains of winter and the intense heat in the summer.
