Brady Rotary Club Business from Tuesday, June 23, 2026
This year's fan drive raised $436. After some discussion, the members decided to buy $690 worth of fans (30 fans.) The remaining $254 will come out of the treasury, less any donations that club members may choose to make. If you would like to donate toward the fan drive, please do so with Michael Cook at Brady National Bank.
It was announced that several members will be leaving. Anthony Cook is taking an opportunity in Fort Worth. Terry Phillips is busy with the city council. Dr. Jolliff is taking on expanded responsibilities. The speaker host responsibilities have been adjusted accordingly. We are still waiting to hear back from several members whom we haven't seen in a while.
July 14 will be the installation of club officers for next year. There will be no guest speaker scheduled for that meeting. The officers decided on are:
Michael Cook: past president
Chuck Jividen: president
Lynn Munden: secretary
Orlando Rubio: treasurer
Bob Hoeppner: president-elect
Holly Garza: vice president
Steve DeFiore: sergeant at arms
For this year's G. Rollie White grant request, we are looking at providing a shade for the playground equipment at Richards Park. Michael is continuing to look at providers. Martin raised a good point about what standards the city may apply toward that, which Michael will check out with the city.
There was some discussion about the challenges the club is currently facing, which include declining membership and some lack of membership participation.
Our guest speaker was Nancy Cooper, president of the Brady ISD Education Foundation. The foundation's focus is on raising money to supplement Brady public schools, e.g., helping to pay for field trips.
A Note on Guests
If you bring guests and/or prospective members to our weekly Rotary meetings, please let Lynn Munden know by Friday of the week before. This is especially important so that high school security can be prepared to allow entry. Also, this helps plan to have enough food for everyone on those days that lunch is provided. Rotary members pay for their guests' meals (excluding the speaker). Orlando adds it to monthly dues.
