Bob Deering, a Past District Governor for the Rotary District 5180, spoke to us at our Dec 1, 2016 Lunch Event

He shared a project that is very important that we as a Rotary district are focusing on.

Human Trafficking is right in our back yard. Here is some information to help us understand what we are up against as a country.

"In the United States, the average entry to prostitution is 12-14 years old. Previously sexualized victims and runaways are high risk victims. Domestically, between 14,500 and 17,500 victims are trafficked into the United States annually. California has the highest volume of sex trafficking areas." Sacramento is among the highest areas in California.

Globally, this is what we currently face:

"Human trafficking is the second biggest issue in the World (only behind drug trafficking) according to the FBI. There are an estimated 20 million people enslaved globally, according to The International Labour Organization. Human trafficking is more than a $150 billion industry. According to Polaris, the Sacramento region is considered a hotbed for sex trafficking in the United States."

The Rotary Club of Roseville stands behind Bob and the team working on this project and we are ready to do what is necessary in order to put a dent in this growing issue in our area.

The Rotary Club of Roseville meets every Thursday from 12:00pm to 1:30pm at Sierra View Country Club, 105 Alta Vista Way, Roseville, CA 95678.
