Book Buddies Begins

On Friday October 3rd, we launched our Book Buddies program at Cirby Elementary School. It was a great showing from our Rotarians and volunteers who all came to meet their new Book Buddy. This year we included all of the 3rd graders, not just one class. Special thanks to Danelle Gooderham and Debbie Milos for completing the difficult task of finding about 60 Rotarians and volunteers to pair up with the students. The students and teachers were very grateful and excited that all 3rd graders got to participate this year.  Each student received their first book, a letter from their buddy and a bright green Book Buddy T-shirt. Everyone paired up with their buddy and got to know each other better. It was great to put a smile on the kids faces as they received their first book. We look forward to connecting with these young students throughout the year and promoting literacy.
