Harry introduced Rory O'cconnor to the club. Rory attended membership information night. President Neil welcomed Rory and the club hopes to see him attend again.
Our Gary Evans has nominated and been instantly accepted for the position of Treasurer.
Thanks to Past President Bob Greig for being acting Treasurer since Marty Wallace left the club. Bob has been reconciling the accounts and finishing of the books for a smooth handover to Gary.
Rotary has contributed $1500 towards the purchase of Mango, a pony for Riding for the Disabled Collie.
The club has put aside $1500 for a previous purchase but that horse was found to be unsuitable, however recent testing of a newer horse called Mango. RDA Collie had identified "Mango " was on the market. After a months trial, RDU found Mango to be a very safe obliging fellow who has fitted into the RDA Collie Program beautifully.
The plans have arrived for the Collie Community Chapel.
The consultants will be providing a final report to be considered by the Club Board at their meeting on the 15th July. The cost is a large amount and if approved by the Board will be brought back to a meeting of members for consideration.
President Neil reported the Collie Tourist Mine is to be officially opened and handed to the Collie Visitors Centre at an invite ceremony on the Thursday 9th July, then for the public on the Saturday 11th July.
A lot of work and funds have gone into upgrading the mine and its equipment including new audio-visual equipment to store the knowledge and history of Collie mining. Members are asked to attend on Thursday 9th July at 2:00pm along with invited dignitaries to officially hand over the Collie Tourist Mine to the Visitors Centre. Then on the Saturday 11th July between 9:00am and 12:30pm the public are invited to inspect the new work and there will be free tours, sausage sizzle and cool drinks. Members are also asked to attend in club shirts for the Saturday.
The mock interviews are to be held on Monday, 27th and Wednesday 29th July and in the first week of August, each between 4:00pm and 5:30pm.
There are eight students so far and we need three volunteers for each session. Some members present committed to some dates but more needed on other dates. Please let Graeme know if you're are available to assist.
Following our very comprehensive membership night, members present were asked to follow up with those who attended to see if any were prospective members.
Members were given names to follow-up and any progress on prospective membership to be communicated back to Robyn.

A few weeks ago as part of Volunteers Week the TheSmithFamily awarded certificates to those who have helped over the past year. To recognise those members who have helped at the Learning Cubs Barbara awarded certificates and a gift from TheSmithFamily Collie to each of the following members. Neil Martin, Steve smith, Barbara Jones, Mark Sanders and Jim Henderson.
The new arrangement for having learning clubs at both Wilson Park and the High School was working well with students keen to attend and improved their reading and comprehension skills.
Barbara will be circulating a roster for learning club volunteers to attend for next semester.
President Neil outlined ideas for the coming year and implored all members to each do their bit.
A list of projects for members to be involved was circulated and each member asked to put their name next to at least two projects. As well members were asked to provide suggestions for projects within the community. For example ablutions at camping spots, etc.
At the next meeting directors will be asked to develop a budget for the coming year. Particularly the focus on the long-term viability of existing fundraising and ideas for new ways to improve our fundraising efforts to allow us to do good (be a gift) in the community and the world. Our aim to have fun as well as do our work.
In recognition of our new members, we will be re-introducing the question of the week and Keith Hopkins has kindly offered his time to fulfil that task. The question will be published in the Bulletin, giving members time before the next meeting to research for the answers. President Neil also implored member to give notice of non-attendance to any meetings as this is a cost to the club for catering. The rule stands that members pay for meetings missed if they haven't given sufficient notice to Keith for non-attendance.
Steve Smith gave an overview of the implementation and uses of Facebook, Twitter and development of a club webpage.
After researching different approaches and trials, the proposal is to use ClubRunner as our Webpage presence. A demonstration of Clubrunner features was presented featuring a wepage, event manager, membership records, club dues, and attendance. President Neil asked that Steve give a further demonstration at a future weekly meeting. Except for the Bulletin email, members will need their ClubRunner login and password to use the features.
