Past President Bob, led the meeting with an invocation followed by songs "We are Australian" and "Walzing Matilda" in honour of the rugby.
President Neil welcomed members and guests. Guests being our speaker Jannice King, her Mum, Kerry King, teachers Chantelle De Souza and Anne Crockford. We also had two adjudicators being Nola Green and Ian Miffling to give feedback on Jannice's 4 way speech.
Youthful John reported on the arrangements for a participant to attend a voyage on the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure. The participant is to be offered sponsorship of half the cost for this project, and they are to make application and also provide or seek the remainder of funding.
President Neil and Membership Robyn attended the combined districts membership Forum on 1 November. Many ideas were collected and as both President Neil and Membership Robyn were scribes they could not attend all sessions. Some ideas raised, we have already done such as holding a membership night. There was a very good video from an eastern states club on how they completely changed the club structure to make all members accountable for sharing the workloads. As there was a great deal of information collated at the seminar it is hoped we can have a report in the near future.
Our annual visit to Darkan was a very enjoyable and successful event, particularly with Jim, Alice and Bob taking out the race placings. There is some confusion around the monies collected. Treasurer Bob explained that of the $1650 in takings we received 80% of the pool being 50% for first place, 20% for second, and 10% for third. The remainder is in the Darkan General Account and Bob is to discuss with President Paul who is also Secretary and Treasurer. Their club is down to 14 members and is in dire need of more members to share the load. We also need to be careful of our membership numbers.
Fellowship Mike reminded members of the trip to Bunbury Epicure Training Restaurant on 18 November. President Neil has moved the Directors meeting to December to allow Directors to attend this event.
Shelter Box Letter - feedback from Alice Jefferson that our Shelter Box number 13015 has made its way to an area of conflict in Niger.
Forum Next week - and a few topics have been put forward, such as Membership and Fundraising ideas. Members to submit their items to President Neil no later than Monday evening.
Rotary DownUnder Issue 577 - Doug has bought to our attention an article regarding the Rotary Club of Orange helping to educate on the scourge of Ice (Crystal Methamphetamine). If you haven't read it, have a read here, and consider if Rotary Collie can also help in Collie with such a campaign.
Attendance was 96.66%, with 23 attending, 1 apology, 6 make-ups, 6 guests and 1 club daughter. Cards, Doug drew the King of Diamonds and that's about as far as he got. Wheel, Rod Cross opened the way for our Speaker, Jannice King to give it a good hard sping. After a while the wheel stopped. No win either.

John Bylund introduced Jannice King who had revised her talk on "Body Image and Self Confidence" from her first practice at the weekly meeting of 15 October.
John explained the 4 Way Speech was a national Rotary effort to reinforce the rotary ethos through this competition. Following the clubs' review there is a group final, then a state final. Those successful in the state final go on to the national final. The participant is to time their speech to no shorter than 5 minutes and no longer than 6 minutes.
Her talk was adjudicated by Nola Green and Ian Miffling with Nola giving some excellent feedback and points to Jannice on behalf of Ian and herself. Eric presented Jannice with a personal donation of $100 for being a winner in the Collie Rotary 4 Way Speech competition, particularly Jannice's passion and engagement.
John Bylund gave a vote of thanks to Nola and Ian on behalf of the club for their constructive and good quality adjudication, particularly given the short notice.
