President Neil introduced Bruce Hunter, guest of Jim Henderson to the meeting and welcomed attending Rotarians. This meeting is about fellowship and preparation for the Easter Break.

The second meeting to form a Probus Club in Collie has been scheduled for the 29th March, 1pm at the Collie Golf Club rooms. As we are the sponsoring club, it would be good to have a representation of members at the meeting to support Probus initiate sufficient membership. Or members may also wish to join Probus as well as being Rotary members.

As circulated to members by Donna, the Bunbury Runners Club have put out a request for Marshalls for their Three Waters Marathon to be held in Bunbury on Sunday 10th April between 06:30 and midday. Our Event Coordinator, Darren Coram has been busy and has announced the website for registration and race information is now open.  As well, there is a dedicated Facebook page containing general information.  There are prizes for early bird registrations available this year courtesy of Cathie Rice Travel. All this and more are contained in the links from the 2016 Collie Adventure Race menu tab on this page. 

John and Robyn attended the District Conference and John gave feedback saying it was a very good event with an excellent set of speakers. Key speaker was Karl O'Kallerhan, WA Police Commsioner who gave some insights into his carreer, personal life and vision for policing in WA. He also spoke on strategies to deal with the ICE drug issues affecting all WA at the moment.

 

Robyn said the chances for fellowship were excellent and partook at every opportunity.

Harry let the meeting know he attended the District 9465 Foundation Grants Seminar on Friday 18th March. This allows our club, should we need to, apply for grants under the RI system. District have allowed up to $36,000 in grants for the forthcoming year, and we should consider this for some of our projects.  Harry indicated that Rotary throughout Australia raised more than $265,000 for the Waroona and Harvey bushfires. An excellent effort. President Neil also indicated a substantial donation was made by Collie's Bendigo Bank directly to the bushfire affected communities.

Just for being at the meeting, Keith drew a ticket for a gift-wrapped mystery item, and the winner was Steve Smith.
