Friends of Rotary Guidelines
Robyn received a copy of the Pinjarra club's bylaw pertaining to "Friends of Rotary", for discussion at our next Forum on January 21st.

Article 14 Friends of Rotary
The primary role of the Friends of the Rotary Club of Pinjarra is to provide an opportunity that connects community people to our Club, with the view to their progressing to full membership as their circumstances change. It is intended to provide an avenue of participation for people who cannot or may not wish to join the Club as a Rotarian (e.g. due to time constraints and other commitments), but who nevertheless would like to help promote the Rotary ideals in our community and to have a link to our Club.

A Friend of the Rotary Club of Pinjarra would be invited to participate in the activities of the Club as follows:
  • Attend mealtime meetings when they wished, especially on special occasions.
  • Attend all social and official functions run by the Club.
  • Assist in fund raising and volunteer activities of the Club.

Guidelines
  • A Friend of the Rotary Club of Pinjarra is not a Member of the Rotary Club of Pinjarra, and is therefore not entitled to the rights or subject to the responsibilities of membership as provided for in the Constitution and By Laws. Rather, a Friend of the Rotary Club of Pinjarra has a formal association with the Club, which provides an avenue to participate in Club activities.
  • A Friend of the Rotary Club of Pinjarra may be accepted by the Board following invitation by a member of the Club and nomination to the Board.
  • An accepted Friend will be formally welcomed at a meeting of the Club and presented with a badge entitled “Friend of the Rotary Club of Pinjarra”.
  • The initial period of the Friend’s association with the Club will be for the current Rotary Year and renewable annually as appropriate by the Board of the Rotary Club of Pinjarra.
  • The Friend of the Rotary Club of Pinjarra’s sponsor would be the link between that Friend and the Club on an ongoing basis. The member would ensure that the Friend receives the details of all Club activities and is encouraged to have involvement in these activities.
  • The Friend of the Rotary Club of Pinjarra fee will be $50 per annum to cover administration and badge costs.
  • Meals and costs of other social activities will be paid for at the same rate as Club members.
  • A Friend of the Rotary Club of Pinjarra will be entitled to receive a weekly Bulletin.
  • A Friend of the Rotary Club of Pinjarra shall not vote in any decisions made by the club, nor sit on the Board.
  • A Friend of the Rotary Club of Pinjarra will not be entitled to wear a Rotary lapel badge.
  • If at any time a Friend of the Rotary Club of Pinjarra expresses a wish to become a member of the Rotary Club of Pinjarra, the usual procedures shall apply as for new members.
Club contributes to ARHR
At the Director's meeting we confirmed a further contribution of $500 to the Australian Rotary Health Foundation. This is usual and another $500 is donated around June for a total of $1000. It is noted that last year the district donated $37,700 and so far this year the district has donated $58,000 towards ARH.
