June Theme: Rotary Fellowship. Rotary Fellowships are international groups that share a common passion. Being part of a fellowship is a fun way to make friends around the world, explore a hobby or profession, and enhance your Rotary experience.

In environment, RI President calls for planting a tree for each member by Earth Day on April 22, 2018 and for our future as an organization to improve our gender balance and lower the average age of our members.  2017-18 RI President is Ian H.S. Riseley, Rotary Club of Sandringham, Victoria, Australia.  2017-2018 District Governor is Jeff Reed of Fond du Lac.

  1.  (Bob G.) Correspondence – an invitation to attend/support the Sheboygan Early Bird Rotary Club’s LobsterFest to be held on July 20th (tickets ordered by July 13th)…the inspiration for our own LobsterFest. Another invitation to attend/support Manitowoc Noon’s hosting of the annual Kids From Wisconsin show. Our club committed $75 for program advertisement – Lauretta K-O. for follow up.
  2. (Bob G./Michael D.) Comments /suggestions on 5th Tuesday Social…consensus that this was a great time/venue!   We still need to work on the beer consumption – does beer really outdate?
  3. (Bob G.) Meals on Wheels – Next opportunity July 17-20. 1 volunteer needed for Friday.
  4.  (Betty B.) Update on District Grant.  Reported as completed and sent in to the District.  This year’s request (in the amount of $2800) will be multi-faceted and focus on beach cleanup, a recycling initiative and an educational program.  Participation from our own club will be paired with TR 8th grade students and Woodland Dunes.  There was also a request to save hard plastic caps for collection and support of a Haven initiative.  Thank you Betty!
  5.  (Bob G.) The first planning meeting for the Volleyball Tournament concession project will be held tonight.  We are working with the Manitowoc Sunrise Club for fundraising via food/beverage sales.  Mark the dates – July 20th – 22nd.   Tim W. will spearhead our participation.  Unused food from CarpFest will be used as a foundation for the Volleyball concession.
  6. (Bob G.) Reminder that the World Affairs Seminar (Peace Through Understanding) is coming up.  We are sponsoring two students and are welcome to attend as well.
  7. (Bob G./Betty B.) Follow up on potential member, Kevin Boehm … waiting until a better time to join.
  8. (Bob G.) Yearend picnic planning. Due to the ongoing commitment of club leadership, there will be no need for an official “changing of the guard”.  We will take advantage of the fact of a fifth Tuesday in July and make plans for a food/fellowship event.  A special thanks to Steve R. for stepping up as President-Elect!
  9. (Bob G.) We will donate two bicycles for the Optimist Bike Give-a-Way.

Program - Presentation of the $12,500 check to Adam Wachowski, TR Youth Sports.  This is the first of a $25,000 commitment of support.  Adam highlighted activities planned over the next year using these state-of-the art facilities.  Additional support is being gathered from a Green Bay Packer grant and others.
