Rotary MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Business Meeting Agenda

December 12, 2017

December Theme: Disease & Treatment- Our health is everything. Yet 400 million people in the world can’t afford or don’t have access to basic health care. We believe good health care is everyone’s right. Rotary leads efforts to set up temporary clinics, blood donation centers, and training facilities in underserved communities struggling with outbreaks and health care access and design and build infrastructure that allows doctors, patients, and governments to work together.
In environment, RI President calls for planting a tree for each member by Earth Day on April 22, 2018 and for our future as an organization to improve our gender balance and lower the adverage age of our members.  2017-18 RI President is Ian H.S. Riseley, Rotary Club of Sandringham, Victoria, Australia.  2017-2018 District Governor is Jeff Reed of Fond du Lac.

From the 10/3/17 Club Assembly
  • Input from club organization program chairs- The annual Rose Sale will start in November and will be as successful as our selling will make it.  Our club’s financial status remains strong.  Our dues structure allows the club to meet operating expenses with our “non-501(c)3” events such as the Rose Sale, Volleyball event, etc. allowing us to designate funding to community needs.   Major fundraising events (such as the annual dinner/lobster fest) provide support to our Foundation.  The club’s Foundation has a current balance of $17,079.04 with $14,280.00 committed to projects in 2017-18.  A detailed club treasurer’s report and foundation financial report were provided at the meeting.
  • Items from 9/27 board meeting: Donations from the general fund include $500 to the Spirit of the Rivers; $200 to Hope House and $200 to the upcoming Sunday Supper.  A donation to the Washington House is pended to allow for future project needs.
  • Annual dinner ideas/input - A number of “soft” need concepts were explored.  These included defined support for The Haven and Employee Assistance Program support benefiting school age families.  Please provide further ideas for consideration over the next few weeks.
  • Input from club officers - Bob G has reached out to area service clubs in an effort to understand their structure and agenda.  The hope is that we can collaborate on a local project bigger than any single club could achieve independently.  Stay tuned.
