2018-19 RI President Barry Rassin wants Rotary members to Be the Inspiration. RI President Rassin is Rotary Club of East Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas. Kola Alayande, Ph.D. is our District Governor 2018-19 - **Our service to other people is the rent we pay for the privilege of being alive.**

Guests: a special welcome to our club (where everyone knows your name) to Norm B. visiting from Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; and to Sarah, the new nursing director at Atrium – guest of Debbie P.

Correspondence – recognizing the recent 90th birthdays of Tom and Doll Finley!  Thank yous were shared from the two club sponsored participants of this year’s World Affairs Seminar – once again, a life-changing experience! GMRP support continues from the area with a $3000 donation from Grace UCC – the 5th year of this level of support.
  2. (Bob G.) Comments on 5th Tuesday Social included a hearty thanks to Steve R. for “picking up the tab” at the Cool City Bar.
  3. (Bob G.) Michael D will be leading the food tent project for the ‘Tall Ship’ event in TR on Sunday, Aug 12; 4-6 pm (need to confirm).  Still looking for “two people and a tent”
  1. (Bob G.) Meals on Wheels, August 28-31, 2018.  2 Volunteers needed.
  2. (Bob G.)  Dennis S. needs our help identifying host families for the 2019-2020 school year.  It will be posted in the ‘Back-to-School Newsletter’ for the TR Schools. 
  3. (Bob G.) Tim W.  School supply drive is ongoing. 
  1. (Betty B.) We have been selected for a $1500 District Grant award.  When paired with an additional $500 grant from Nextera, we have the necessary funds to complete the ambitious “greening of the lakeshore” project.
  2. (Bob G.) Reminder of the collection box for recycling items for The Haven
  3. (Bob G,) Input from Board Meeting July 25th   includes building interest in a Manitowoc-Two Rivers collaborative club activity – ideas considered include a “Universal Polio Day”.  Planning continues on a steak fry date in August – likely a Monday night later in the month.  Next Board Meeting Aug 15th TR Family Diner 7:30AM

  2.  (Bob G.) Program- Lauretta K-O. introduced Joel Evenson, Exec Dir Big Brothers Big Sisters Manitowoc County
Executive Director, Joel Evenson, describes the "Bigs" as a cool way to give back to the community.  
He went on to thank our club for the recent transportation sponsorship for the Timber Rattler event.  More events, like this are being 
planned to increase the program's impact in the community.  Similar to the strategy used by our club, collaboration is viewed as
key to promoting our message.  He cited examples of initiatives with the school system, Woodland Dunes and others all geared to
building community based relationships.

Our one-to-one matches truly make an impact in children's lives. A Big Brothers Big Sisters’ match is carefully administered and held to the strictest standards. We strive for matches that are not only safe and well suited to each child’s needs, but also harmonious and built to last. 
​We provide ongoing support and supervision to the Big, the Little, and the Little’s family. We offer training and advice to help ensure that the match is working for everyone involved. This web of support helps maximize the likelihood that a Big Brothers Big Sisters relationship will thrive.
