2018-19 RI President Barry Rassin wants Rotary members to Be the Inspiration. RI President Rassin is Rotary Club of East Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas. Kola Alayande, Ph.D. is our District Governor 2018-19 - **Our service to other people is the rent we pay for the privilege of being alive.**

  1. (Bob G.) Paul Harris “fellow” status updates – Betty B.  Paul Harris Fellow plus one; Kim H. Paul Harris Fellow plus three and Dennis S. Paul Harris Fellow plus six.
     
  2. (Bob G.) Betty B. commented on Tall Ships event – the hot weather drove the drink sales netting approximately $200 in proceeds.  Extra food/drink was donated to the tall ship crew and was appreciated.  One suggestion for next year included starting a bit earlier to capture the lunch crowd.
 
  1. (Bob G.) Meals on Wheels, August 28-31, 2018.  1 Volunteers needed. Sign up was passed
     
  2. (Bob G.)  Dennis S. needs our help identifying host families for the 2019-2020 school year.  It will be posted in the ‘Back-to-School Newsletter’ for the TR Schools.  The high school counselors were also contacted.
     
  3. (Bob G.) Tim W.  School supply drive continues.  Sign up was passed.  We are awaiting further updates/purchasing and distribution of cash/supplies collected.
 
  1. (Bob G.) A decision on Steak Fry will be made at the next board meeting.
     
  2. (Bob G.) Spirit of the River sculptures has arrived and is in place for the September dedication.  TR Rotary has a contributed $500.
     
  3. (Bob G.) Reminder of the collection box for recycling items for The Haven
     
  4. (Bob G,) Next Board Meeting is scheduled for August 22nd at the TR Family Diner 7:30AM
 
  1. (Bob G.) Next Meeting –Bob G. to introduce Chris Hansen, Cheri Ertman- Mission to Haiti.  Greeter is Bill W.   
 
  1. (Bob G.) Happy Bucks- Brenda G facilitated and passed the buck to Debbie P.
     
  2. (Bob G.) Given the consistent issues with AV equipment access/function, it is recommended that the club consider the purchase of our own equipment. 
 
  1. (Bob G.) Program- Brian J. introduced Roger Russove, Director, Main Street Program – provided an update of the program’s current status and a glimpse at the future direction.  New business development is highlighted by a 55 room hotel to be located on the Suettinger property.  Demolition and site preparation is starting with a projected hotel completion scheduled for next Memorial Day.  A local investor group is spearheading this Cobblestone Inn franchise.  Additional developments include at new art gallery, Brushstrokes with More; the expansion/relocation of the Two Rivers Quilt Shop; a new game shop and the opening of “Tapped on the Lakeshore”, a craft beer and activity center.  Interest in the area continues to increase with remodeling projects underway, i.e. Two Rivers Pub, and a budding entrepreneurial spirit in evidence.
 
The Two Rivers Main Street program was recently selected as one of three pilot sites to implement a Community Transformation Strategy.
Local examples of this philosophy in action include:
 
- Business recruitment to fit this local strategy with state level support
- Placement of informational kiosks
- Pop up shops (incubator)
- Small Business Saturday in conjunction with the Holiday Parade
