The Rotary Club of Mission (AM) is proud to have been a integral part of the solution. In teaming with Write to Read project, the club was able to contribute to a BRAND NEW library in Lax Kw’alaams – formerly known as Port Simpson.

With community support throughout the year, the club was able to allocate $5,000 to the project – while still supporting many local programs – and double that with a $5,000 grant. Not only did we contribute funds to this worthwhile project, a number of club members actually made the epic journey north to help with the actual setup. Rotarians Janet Chalmers, Louise Lacerte, Lloyd Rash and Bill Dickson, along with Friend of Rotary Roger Dowker, made the trip to install the library and are pictured shyly hiding in the new shelves. Volunteers from the Mission Rotary Club helped create a library in the First Nations community of Lax Kw’alaams. - Submitted Photo
