The power of Rotary friendships was on full display at this week’s meeting when Linda introduced us to her new best friends from Peru.Following Linda’s engaging slide presentation, our Peruvian guests shared highlights of their Rotary clubs and service projects, with library aide Megan providing helpful translation. The visit included a meaningful exchange of flags and gifts, symbolizing the strong bonds formed through Rotary.
A few tears of appreciation were shed when our club presented the Rotary Club of San Borja Por Siempre with a $2,000 donation to support much-needed improvements to a school and medical clinic serving an impoverished community.
The tears quickly turned to smiles when Dave was presented with a bottle of Peru’s favorite adult beverage, Pisco Portón, known for making an excellent pisco sour. Our guests also received Chamber of Commerce goodie bags, complete with downtown Cedarburg shopping gift cards, before wrapping up their day with a dinner graciously hosted by John and Ronnie Hammes.
