This past year our club, like many Rotary clubs around the world, was impacted by the pandemic. However, our response was proactive. We continued to meet but shifted to online platform. Thus, we found a way to stay active and committed to service despite difficult times. Our club truly manifested Rotary International theme’s (2019-2020) Rotary Connects the World.
Happy Canada Day! I hope you’re all enjoying this beautiful summer. This is my third summer in the spectacular North, and the long days continue to fascinate me.

2019-2020 was a year filled with accomplishments, activities and most importantly, services that benefited our community. I would like to take the time to sincerely thank President Paul, his team, all club members, volunteers and sponsors who made this year memorable.

Our club navigated this whole novel situation creatively. Our online cooking classes emerged: engaging the community, having fellowship while staying safe at home. In partnership with YK Multisport Club, the second series of fun walk/run was launched… virtually. The first event in the series fundraised for local businesses facing the impacts of the pandemic. Around 300 participated in the event and we raised $1725/coffee shop. This includes about $1100 in tips for staff in each coffee shop.
Yellowknife True North team is unstoppable! Back Bay Cemetery Bridge is almost complete. This is a bridge to our city’s history and a project that our club is very proud of. Please view, and share, the presentation by clicking on the link:

Last year was packed with initiatives that served our community in Yellowknife. I want to share with you some of our beautiful memories.

Lots of fun at Lunch With A Bunch during #hockeydayincanada and the #stanleycup.

Fun Walk/Run (summer 2019)
Canada Day (2019)

If I missed any event, please share it with us. I look forward to working with each one of you next year… let’s continue serving our community. Thank you Paul for your leadership and guidance throughout this past year.

This year’s Rotary International theme is Rotary Opens Opportunities. Together, we will create opportunities for people who need our help, while having great time and meaningful fellowship.

Sincerely,
