ASCOT TOASTS THE ROTARY CLUB OF GLASGOW, SCOTLAND

At our meetings we make a toast to another Rotary Club around the world - to give us an insight into what other clubs are doing, and find inspiration in the work that is being done.  The Letter G was our starting point, so the Rotary Club of Glasgow is the club we toasted this week.  They meet on Tuesdays at 12.30 pm for 1 pm start.  The have just completed a history of their first 100 years as a Rotary Club and are involved in fundraising for Rotary and to support some of their favourite local charities.

This is just one of many photos I took at Bricktober over the weekend.  I told myself I could only pick one for the Bulletin and this is the one I picked.  I love how the kids are fascinated with the Lego, as well as adults who are equally enjoying it.  In the background is the Great Ball Contraption and behind that is the Interactive Area.  A busy weekend for all, but an amazing community event which has been well supported by those who came to have a look.

WE HAVE HUNG UP OUR VESTS,
RESTED OUR FEET AND CAN NOW
LOOK BACK ON A VERY SUCCESSFUL EVENT

A very big thank you to club members and friends for supporting the event, and making sure that it happened as well as it did.  Also a big thank you to members of the WA Brick Society for their assistance packing up on Sunday afternoon.  It was very much appreciated.

Some preliminary information about the weekend:
  • over 8,500 tickets were sold
  • 200+ others at the event, including vendors, exhibitors, volunteers
  • 36 exhibitors, with 3 of them being new to Bricktober
  • 3 group builds
  • 10 junior builders and 1 school showed what they have done with their Play tub bricks.
  • 729 raffle tickets sold over the 2 days
  • 431 lucky dip sales
  • 646 mini figures sold
  • Cos Players were there on Saturday
  • 3 Lego Masters were there over the weekend.
Thank you to the other Rotary Clubs who were also involved, either as vendors or volunteers during the weekend.  Byford Rotary - doughnut stand, Welshpool - hamburgers and sausage sizzle, Mill Point - merchandise and Applecross - assisting with ticketing.  We love how we can work together and collectively create something good for our community members.

Well done everyone.  We look forward to making magic again next year.

If you have any feedback about how we can make it even better next year, can you please email Jodie, or email ascotrotarywa@gmail.com with your ideas.

A big thank you to Jodie and her team of people who planned the event and made sure everything came together over the weekend.
