We were very fortunate to have District Governor Pat speak to us this morning at our combined club meeting with South Perth Burswood and Victoria Park.  Pat had to brave the traffic on the freeway and almost didn't make it in time.
Pat was able to introduce us to her District Board, and congratulate Mike Bermann on his appointment to Assistant Governor for our area.  She spoke about the need to increase membership and enhance the participation in club projects for our members.  Pat reminded us that as Rotarians, we are 'people of action' and we need to find ways of getting the word out to people who may not have heard of who we are and what we do.  By inviting people to events that we run we may get them involved and even ignite a passion within themselves to also want to be involved in our clubs.
If we were looking for a project to take on Pat reminded us of the seven areas of focus that have been developed by Rotary International and indicated that Foundation Grants are available for projects that fall within any of those 7 areas.
She also reminded us that the District Conference for our district will be held in Rockingham from 25 - 27 March next year.  Pat urged us to consider going to that event as well as the District Changeover event that had to be postponed until 31 July.  It gives us an opportunity to celebrate the great work we individually and collectively have done over the past year.  All are welcome.
Thank you Pat for coming and speaking with us this morning, and we hope you did have a chance to have some breakfast after all.
