We continue to receive the generous support of businesses in our community for the Starfish Backpack program in North Langley.
We recently received donation from Lower Mainland Living and Western Coast Insurance.
It is with donations like this we can serve the kids in our community. The Starfish Backpack is a way which we can get food to children over the weekend who need it the most in our communities. . In non pandemic times Starfish Backpacks would be sent home on weekends full of nutritious food, making a big difference in a child's well-being. During this time, the Langley School District Foundation is ensuring these kids are getting grocery store gift certificates on a weekly basis.
Western Coast Insurance raised $905.00 for the program at their Langley Branch. Hira Jahangir of Western Coast Insurance commented when we visited to accept the donation, "With the recent events surrounding COVID-19, our communities have been hit hard with a need for support like never before. It's always been part of Western's mission to give back to the communities that give us so much in return. We wanted to assist Starfish Backpack in meeting or exceeding their target of helping families in need. We appreciate the vital work done by Starfish to help and feed the families. Western Communities Foundation is proud to be part of this amazing cause. We raised these funds by just asking the employees, family and friends for donations. Everyone was generous enough to make the contributions. "
Daniel and Sue Bennett of Lower Mainland Living donated $1500.00 to the program.
These contributions allow us to support 20 elementary children in the North Langley area.
