Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Dear wonderful Rotarians of my home Club,

I hope that this letter finds you smiling, and that you’re enjoying the gorgeous BC summer which we all anxiously await annually, hoping to get a break for a couple of hours from the rains which make our city lush and beautiful. Ironically, as I write this email, I hear heavy rain drops outside my boarded-up window. I can see my breath when I exhale. It’s cold.

The last few months have been filled with struggles and hardships; however, I’m happy to say that I continue to try to overcome them. Living in the violently impoverished community of Fisantekraal, located about 45 kilometres outside the opulent Cape Town city center, I have been trying to get empowerment initiatives off the ground for the most vulnerable and important of our community members: the youth! Progress is made each day, and I’m thankful that we’re moving forward.

On that note, I am sure the generous Rotarians of the Club are curious as to where their financial support went. It took months of fighting for, accompanied with trips to far off depots and shipping yards, but I’m absolutely elated to let you know that your support helped us secure the shipping container we’ve been dreaming of for the Pela Pos initiative! Indeed, we now have it sitting on the land where we meet with the youth, and the next step is to convert it into a one of a kind musical haven and recording studio for our young ones. They thank you; I thank you, and I couldn’t be more grateful for your support. More importantly, I’m eternally grateful for your moral support, and for always backing my efforts, especially through the trials and tribulations of the last few years. Thank you, Rotary family.

On that note, I should let you know that I have also been receiving a lot of love and support from Rotarians here, and they too have gotten firmly behind Peace & Love International’s efforts. Numerous individual Rotarians have shared, donated, and supported in their own capacities, and different Rotary Clubs are getting involved with enhancing our projects on the ground. It’s absolutely humbling to have the support of such selfless, passionate people, who go out of their way to make sure those in need have a chance for positive personal growth.

I have attached a photo of our container, and as I gather support to convert it and turn it into the place of safety and respect which I envision for the youth, I will send you more visuals. Until then, know that this container would not have been possible without your support, and that you’re contributing to creating a wonderful future for some of our most needy global citizens in a very practical way. Thank you!

Peace, Love, and Respect,
