Carson Rotarians visit ComputerCorps at their regular meeting on October 16th.  ComputerCorps Director
and Carson Rotarian Ron Norton treated the Club to lunch and a tour of the facility.  ComputerCorps was formed
in 1997 when a group of volunteers got together to help put recycled computers back into the Community
and not in landfills.  Now ComputerCorps recycles thousands of computers and components each year
and has trained thousands of volunteers for employment in the computer industry.
Members of the Carson Rotary Club joined President Katie Leao in a final group photo ending her successful Rotary year

JUNE 9, 4-9 PM

Come Together For A Good Cause

Kick off the summer at this year’s Capital City Brewfest! The fun takes place Saturday, June 9th, from 4 pm to 9 pm in Downtown Carson City. This year’s Brewfest promises to be even better than last year with even more breweries and several tasty food trucks. This year more than two dozen breweries will line both Carson and Curry Streets and, for the first time, live music in McFadden Plaza.
Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Carson City and the The Fox Brewpub, money raised benefits the Rotary Club’s youth leadership and scholarship programs. The service organization awards a $12,000.00 four-year scholarship to a deserving student each year, as well as funds several leadership programs for Carson City students.  /
Don’t miss out on the event of the summer! Tickets are $30.00 in advance and $35.00 at the door. Designated drivers can purchase a ticket for just $5.00.   For more information and tickets go to:

Rotary Youth Exchange students from District 5190 were hosted by the Carson Noon and Sunset Clubs to a week-end of activities celebrating the 153rd birthday of the State of Nevada.   Activities included a visit to the Governor's Mansion, marching in the Nevada Day parade on Saturday, a hosted party for RYE students on Saturday evening and visit to historic Virginia City on Sunday.  21 RYE students participated and were hosted by local families for the week-end.  Thanks to all Rotarians and local host families who helped this be a successful week-end!
Carson City Rotarians joined together with Muscle Powered to work on the Secret Trail. The Secret Trail connects Hobart Road with Ash Canyon Road. Rotarians and Muscle Powered worked cutting a new trail that will provide for easier use with less slope.

Muscle Powered is a great partner to work with and has provided an opportunity for Rotarian's to contribute their time and resources to improving access to Carson City's recreational corridors and trail systems.  Muscle Powered works to make Carson City healthier for all citizens and safer and more accessible for bicycling and walking through education and advocacy, the promotion of bicycle and pedestrian friendly infrastructure, and developing and maintaining recreational trails throughout the city.  Thanks goes out to Jeff Potter and his Muscle Powered crew for their hard work and dedication.
The Rotary Club of Carson City welcomes incoming 2017-18 President Katie Leao, and pays homage to outgoing President Jim Gray at the Governor's Mansion demotion dinner on June 27th.
Congratulations to Mrs. Lacey Carey and Mrs. Shanall Cavener on being named the Rotary Club of Carson City's Teachers of the Year!
Mrs. Carey and Mrs. Cavener are seen here with Rotary President Jim Gray, Superintendent of Schools Mr Richard Stokes, CHS Principal Tasha Fuson and Fritsch Elementary Principal Mr Dan Brown.
The Rotary Club of Carson City participated in two work days in April on back to back weekends. Rotarians volunteered their time for two deserving organizations all in the name of beautifying and bettering Carson City.
Saturday April 22nd, together with local Boy Scouts, the Rotary Club of Carson City joined local non profit, Muscle Powered to undertake a trail clean up and reconstruction. The Morgan Mill Trail was damaged this winter by flooding. Volunteers were able to cut down fallen trees, reestablish the trail path and fill in large holes created by the flood waters. It was a fun and productive project!
Saturday April 29th, Rotarians were at it again!!! Here Rotarians can be seen laying sod and planting flowers at the Brewery Arts Center, readying it for the 2017 Summer Concert Series.
17 Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) students from District 5190,  and Carson High Interact students marched in the 2016 Nevada Day Parade on Saturday, October 29th.  RYE students were hosted by the two Carson Clubs for the week-end of October 28-30, staying with local host families. RYE students were treated to a costume party at the Brewery Arts Center, the Nevada Day Parade, a social party with Rotarians and a visit to Virginia City.  Inbound students from Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Denmark, Germany, Italy and Thailand helped celebrate Nevada's 152nd birthday and learn about Nevada history and customs.  The parade float this year was the Cathedral, an 1895 engine-powered pleasure boat recovered from the depths of Fallen Leaf Lake near Tahoe and restored by the D'Anneo family. Thanks to the Carson High Interact Club for making the RYE students feel at home, and local host families for welcoming these Rotary ambassadors into their homes for the week-end!

Rotary and Rotarians donate to furnish new apartments to benefit homeless veterans at the Richards Crossing Apartments in Carson City on September 21.  The Rotary Club of Carson and Carson Sunset Clubs donated $1540 to furnish one apartment each at Richard's Crossing.  Mayor and Rotarian Bob Crowell, and Commissioner Lori Bagwell receive the donations.  Members of the Rotary Club who matched this donation to each furnish one apartment included Chuck and Jerry Borders, Bob Crowell, Barb D'Anneo and Ernie Adler.
DG John Sullivan visited the Carson Rotary Club on August 30.  His inspiring speech hit on all cylinders as he revved up Carson Rotarians reminding members of all the good things Rotarians accomplish both locally and globally.  His visit was timed with the soon departure of Rotary Youth Exchange student Mackenzie Gilliam, who will be traveling to Naples, Italy on exchange for the next year.
Saturday June 4, 2016 Carson City Rotarians, belonging to both the Sunset and Noon Club, came together with the Firkin and Fox Restaurant and the Carson City Visitors Bureau to bring back the Capital City Brewfest. On this perfect Saturday, 100s of people were able to taste over 30 micro brews and enjoy live music. Fun was had by all AND money was earned for a great cause. LOOKING FORWARD to next year!!!
