Winona Rotary Club Continues to Invest in Community Parks and Recreation Projects
Winona, MN — The Rotary Club of Winona, a long-standing service organization dedicated to making a positive impact in the community, is proud to highlight its ongoing commitment to improving public spaces and recreational opportunities in the city. Over the years, the club has played a pivotal role in enhancing Winona’s park system, most notably through its leadership in developing and renovating disc golf courses at East and West Lake Winona and contributing to municipal park upgrades.
In the early 2000s, the Winona Rotary Club recognized an opportunity to introduce a new recreational activity that would engage people of all ages while making use of the city’s beautiful lakefront parks. Through a partnership with the City of Winona and local volunteers, the club spearheaded the creation of the original East Lake Winona Disc Golf Course. The course quickly became a popular destination for residents and visitors alike, offering a fun, accessible outdoor activity that showcases the natural beauty of the area.
Building on the success of the East Lake course, the Rotary Club has continued to invest in disc golf and community park projects. Most recently, the club has been actively involved in renovations and upgrades at the West Lake Winona Disc Golf Course. These improvements have included updated course signage, new tee pads, and enhanced landscaping, all aimed at providing a better experience for players and encouraging more people to enjoy the sport.
“Our club is committed to projects that bring people together and improve the quality of life here in Winona,” said Dave Pierret President of the Winona Rotary Club. “Disc golf has become a much-loved activity in our community, and we’re proud to have been a part of bringing it to both East and West Lake Winona. These renovations are just the latest example of how we continue to invest in spaces that serve everyone.”
In addition to disc golf, the Winona Rotary Club supports various municipal park renovations throughout the city. The club has contributed time, funding, and volunteer labor to projects such as playground equipment updates, park shelter improvements, and general beautification efforts. These projects reflect the Rotary’s mission of “Service Above Self” and its commitment to fostering a vibrant, healthy, and inclusive community.
As the club looks ahead, it remains dedicated to identifying new opportunities to support local parks, recreation, and youth programs. The Rotary Club invites community members to get involved, whether by joining the club, participating in volunteer days, or simply enjoying the many public spaces enhanced through Rotary’s efforts.
