Aaron Dority of the Frenchman's Bay Conservancey will give an update on the Ellsworth Library foot trail. Sept 20th the Ellsworth City Council unanimously approved a request from Frenchman Bay Conservancy (and other organizations that make up the Green Plan) a land easement necessary for the reconstruction of the library trail to begin. This foot trail will connect walkers to the Union River and eventually, the Central Street neighborhood. By improving public access to the Union River this trail reconstruction can be viewed as a gateway project to the larger river walk in downtown Ellsworth. |

Brett Ciccotelli, Downeast Salmon Federation Restoration & Engagement Coordinator, is passionate about rivers and those who live along, in, and with them. He has helped count fishes, clean nets, restore streams, and bait hooks in the rivers of Eastern Maine, across the USA, in the Canadian arctic, along the Northern Italian coast, and in the fishy rivers of Southeast Asia. He knows how deeply tied people are to their rivers and fisheries and is proud to help protect and restore that legacy. |

Wendy Lessard joins Rotary to share benefits of Essentrics and give those interested in participating a 1st hand experience in a workout. Wendy is currently a full-time massage therapist in Ellsworth who's interested in supporting individuals and her communities to become healthier and more resilient. If you choose to join in, please wear comfortable clothes and make sure you have a chair with a back & no wheels available.
What is Essentrics? A workout that moves the body through a chain of specific, full body movements designed to strengthen and release the full musculature and joint systems of our bodies, building a toned, flexible, balanced, pain free body. Diverse music, breathing and imagery help motivate the movements while triggering brain-body connections to increase the effectiveness of the workouts. No impact, and no weight beyond our own body weight. Good for all ages and fitness levels, used by professional and casual athletes to Olympians to improve performance and work out stiffness and soreness. Age backwards, grow stronger, and re-shape your body.

In 2021, more than 600 Mainer's lost their lives to substance use disorder. While that number is higher than any previous year, that number would have been 15 times higher without Naloxone. Naloxone is an opioid antagonist and the only thing available to reverse an overdose. If people do not survive use, they can't recover. Healthy Acadia is working to get Naloxone into the hands of as many community members as possible. Beth Alteri is the Recovery Program Volunteer Coordinator for Healthy Acadia Beth works with our entire recovery team to recruit and support volunteers. She connects with those who are interested in volunteering in recovery programs and works with them to find the right fit for their service and to connect them with the recovery team members that can help them to get the most out of their service. Beth works with the Substance Use and Prevention Team to increase community knowledge about Substance Use Disorder and to distributing and training people in the community about harm reduction tools such as Naloxone. Beth also provides coordination and support at the INSPIRE Recovery Center. She is also a CCAR trained Recovery Coach and supervises the Hancock County Maine Recovery Core interns.

Come Learn about Heart of Ellsworth's 2021 accomplishments and what’s in store for 2022. As members of Rotary and the Ellsworth community, we want to hear your ideas, questions and future vision for our city.
Romano is a non-profit leader with a deep passion for community building and economic development. Her approach is collaborative, inclusionary, and goal orientated. Cara grew up in Downeast Maine, attended the University of Maine at Machias. After earning a degree in Interdisciplinary Fine Arts with a metals focus, she pursued a career as a studio jeweler. In 2005 she established her own studio and began traveling the country showing her work. From 2011 - 2015 she served as President of the Maine Crafts Association (MCA). This volunteer opportunity proved to be career-altering. During her time with the MCA, Cara found her true calling - arts administration and community development. From 2013 - 2019 Cara operated a small retail store in Downtown Ellsworth (KÅT) Contemporary Craft. In 2016 she became Executive Director of the Downtown Ellsworth Merchants Association. Along with the founding board of directors, Cara worked to transition the organization to become a 501c3, Heart of Ellsworth. Cara continues to grow the organization and build community one volunteer, program, and event at a time.
